Beta 37: Footsteps & Movement

The night shift now has a little more sole.
Beta 37 is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. This update adds footsteps that follow your movement and the floor beneath you, plus camera motion that gives walking and running a more physical feel.
Hear where you are walking
Concrete, asphalt, carpet, tile, metal, grass and gravel each have their own footstep sounds. Carpet is softer, gravel crunches and metal has a sharper ring. The sound follows the actual floor, including the metal crane platform and the concrete stairs.
Each surface has four variations with small pitch changes, so successive steps do not repeat the same take. Their rhythm follows the distance you cover: walking, running and crouching have different strides. Standing still or moving through the air does not trigger footsteps.
We also turned the footsteps down during testing, with a further 25% volume reduction in the final tuning pass. Running is more audible than walking, while crouched steps stay quiet.
A little movement in the view
Running now gives the camera a rhythmic rise, fall and side-to-side sway. Walking has a lighter, slower bob. The motion eases back to neutral when you stop, and crouching keeps the view steady.
Aiming down sights reduces the bob to 15% of its normal strength. The effect moves the view without rotating the horizon or changing your aim direction.
