Beta 38: Sound & Survival

The walls have a say in what you hear.
Beta 38 is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. This update makes world sounds respond to the building around you, adds a shared wait between casino visits, and fixes a lethal interaction between Scapegoat blasts and boss melee attacks.
Hear through the compound
Walls, floors, closed doors and cover now quieten and muffle sounds on the other side. Zombie voices, teammate weapons, machinery, barricades and other world sounds respond to what stands between you and their source. Opening a door changes what you can hear through it.
Nearby openings let some sound travel around an obstruction. Sounds with a clear path keep their usual distance falloff, and menus and your own first-person sounds stay clear.
The casino takes a break
After the team is ejected from the casino, everyone waits five minutes before buying another visit. Leaving early together starts the same wait. The crane pendant shows the time remaining, and trying to buy during the countdown costs no points.
The countdown is shared by the whole co-op team and survives a reconnect.
A chance to survive an empowered boss
A zombie empowered by a Scapegoat explosion now deals at most 95% of your maximum health with one melee hit, including the round-seven boss. A survivor at full health keeps at least 5% health. If you are already wounded, that blow can still kill you.
The cap applies after team scaling and damage bonuses, with the same result for hosts and guests. The blast still strengthens attacks against barricades, and smaller melee hits keep their existing damage.
