Beta 40: Clearer Combat Feedback

Read your wallet, watch your bonuses and listen behind you.

Beta 40 is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. This update responds to playtest feedback about spending points and melee reach, and makes nearby threats easier to notice.

Points you can spend

Your balance now shows a dollar sign, matching weapon prices, ammunition, upgrades and other purchases. A dark outline keeps the balance readable against bright sky.

Company credit has a green banknote icon and commission has a gold ×2 medal. Their rings shrink as time runs out, and the icons flash increasingly quickly near expiry. Supply crates simply refill ammunition and do not add a timed-effect icon.

Combat feedback

• The golf club reaches 1.3 metres, reduced from 1.6 metres.
• Nearby zombies behind you give an immediate audible warning, with shorter gaps between groans while they remain close.
• Brush strokes at the screen edges show the direction of incoming damage.
• Car park footsteps sound softer on asphalt.

The startup story and pre-game comic remain disabled while they are being developed. The flashing-lights warning still appears before the menu.
